How to Compare Training Maps in MapleStory Classic World

Guide by MapleEXP · Updated

Compare two Classic World training maps using your own EXP/hour samples. Control party conditions and session length, then save records with the correct map.

Keep the comparison fair

Keep level, gear, skills, party size and temporary bonuses as similar as possible. Choose a consistent 5–10 minute measurement interval and record unusual downtime or competition.

Use the monster database to shortlist recorded locations and map routes to plan travel. Listed monster EXP and spawn counts alone do not establish your actual kills per minute or current in-game spawn timing.

Measure, select the map and save

Capture the EXP bar before and after each session with Simple calculator. After the result, choose Save, search for the map and select it, then save locally or to your account. Use one browser for local comparisons.

Compare records by efficiency or time. Recheck that each record has the intended map. Full-mode recognition can misread map names, so verify them instead of relying on recognition alone.

Worked comparison: normalize different session lengths

Illustrative arithmetic, not measurements or a recommended map ranking: Map A gives 16,000 EXP in eight minutes. Map B gives 18,000 EXP in ten minutes. Map A has the higher hourly pace in these examples, despite the lower total gain.

Worked comparison: normalize different session lengths
SampleEXP gainedMinutesEXP/hour
Map A16,0008120,000
Map B18,00010108,000

(120,000 ÷ 108,000 − 1) × 100 ≈ 11.1%

Repeat before choosing a regular training spot

Measure each candidate more than once. If the hourly rates are close, test again rather than treating normal variation as a reliable advantage. Include practical concerns such as travel, potion use and how easy it is to find an available channel.

Share a result card with its map and test conditions so other players can interpret it. A result card describes a sample; it does not certify the best map for every class, level or party.

Common questions

Can I compare two different characters?

You can compare their observed rates, but differences in level, gear and skills prevent attributing the difference to the map alone.

Are these example rates real map benchmarks?

No. Map A and Map B are arithmetic examples. Measure your own character and label any shared sample with its conditions.
